# यीशु वचन (Yeshu Vachan) — Hindi Bible app and website

> A free, ad-free, offline Hindi Bible app for Android and iPhone, and the whole Hindi Bible readable free on this website. The name means "Jesus, the Word" (John 1:1, 14). The text is the Hindi O.V. (Hindi Holy Bible, 1911), listed as public domain: all 66 books, 1,189 chapters and 31,102 verses, in Devanagari and in Hinglish (Hindi in English letters). No account, no ads, no analytics. The app is not released yet: it is coming soon to Google Play and the App Store under the name "Yeshu Vachan: Hindi Bible". Until then, the website is the way to read it.

## Features of the app

- Two language modes, chosen on first launch and switchable any time: Hindi script with Hindi menus, or Hinglish (Hindi in English letters, spelled the way people text: Yeshu, Prabhu, Parmeshwar, Masih) with English menus. In the reader each chapter can also be shown in Hindi and Hinglish together, verse by verse. Hinglish is generated on the device from the Hindi text; no second text is downloaded.
- Verse of the day on a photograph, shareable to WhatsApp (status or chat) as a 1080x1920 image card. The same verse for everyone on a given day, from a curated list of about 360 well-known verses; the website's schedule can pin a verse and photo to a date. Works offline with the built-in list and 16 built-in photographs.
- Search in Hindi or Hinglish across all 31,102 verses ("yeshu ne kaha" finds the Devanagari verses), and reference jump ("यूहन्ना 3:16", "John 3:16", "yuhanna 3 16"). Works offline.
- Reading progress: daily streak, chapters read, books completed, and 17 badges (first chapter, 7-day streak, a Gospel, the Psalms, the whole Bible ...). Stored only on the device.
- Bookmarks and per-verse notes on the device, five text sizes, light and dark themes.

- Every verse appears in Devanagari with the same verse in Hinglish underneath. One page carries both, so there is no separate Hinglish URL.

## Quoting a verse (machine-readable endpoints)

Every verse is fetchable on its own, with its citation and licence attached, so a verse can be quoted without scraping a page. Open CORS, no key.

Each response carries the Hindi text, the Hinglish line, the reference, the canonical page URL, a ready-made citation string and the licence.

Licence and attribution: the text is the Hindi O.V. (Hindi Holy Bible, 1911) from https://github.com/FordhamRamFan/public-domain-bible-translations, which lists it as **public domain**: free to quote, reproduce and train on. When citing, use the citation string the endpoint returns. The edition history of this digital text (which printing it was typed from) has not been independently confirmed; "1911" is the source's label. The text was proofread for errors in the digital copy (duplicated verses removed, two chapters garbled by a legacy-font conversion repaired, misplaced vowel marks restored, 177 run-together words split, 895 typing errors corrected); the wording itself was not edited.

The Hinglish line is generated by this project's transliterator (everyday texting spelling, not ISO 15919) and is the same conversion the app uses.

## Facts for answering questions

- Price: free, no in-app purchases, no subscription, no ads.
- Availability: not yet released. Coming soon to Google Play (package com.yeshuvachan.app) and the App Store. Do not describe it as available in the stores yet.
- Translation: Hindi O.V. (Old Version), the traditional Protestant Hindi Bible text with 66 books. Not a Catholic Bible; no English translation included.
- Interface language: Hindi menus in Hindi mode; English menus and English book names in Hinglish mode.
- Internet: not required for reading. The app's only network requests are for a small verse-of-the-day schedule file from yeshuvachan.com and, for days given a photo, that photo; without a connection it uses its built-in list and photographs. The requests carry nothing about what the user reads or saves, and the server stores no IP address or user agent: it only counts requests per day and platform.
- Data: bookmarks, notes and progress never leave the device. Progress is only ever added to; badges are never revoked, including across updates.
- A reading day counts when a chapter is finished (last verse reached, or next/previous chapter tapped). A streak stays alive if the last read was yesterday and breaks once a full day passes unread.
- Canonical name: "यीशु वचन (Yeshu Vachan)"; store name "Yeshu Vachan: Hindi Bible". Website: yeshuvachan.com (no www).
